Meatloaf with eggs and Kefalotiri cheese

Kefalotiri resembles Gruyere in its taste, however the cheese is drier and possesses numerous smaller holes. In Greece the cheese is also known as Graviera, which is rolled in seasoned flour and then fried to make the famous Greek dish Saganaki. kefalotiri with its rich aroma can be used as an appetizer with fruits and wine, as well as an ingredient in cheese pies.


500 gr minced beef
300 gr minced pork
2 dried onions
2-3 pieces of old bread soaked in wine
2 eggs
1/2 cup of chopped mint
1/2 cup of chopped dill
1/3 cup of oil
Juice from half a lemon
2 bowls of kefalotiri cheese
4-5 boiled eggs
1 teaspoon of paprika
Salt, Paper, Oregano


Knead minced meat with eggs, dried off bread, grated onions, condiments, oil, lemon, kefalotiri cheese, salt, pepper and oregano. Refrigerate the mixture for about an hour to tighten, and well-seasoned. On a parchment paper spread the mixture in a rectangular sheet. In the middle, place the chopped cheese and pealed eggs. With the help of the parchment paper roll the minced meat into a roll. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about an hour and a half. Alternately, place some chopped potatoes and oil in the last 45 minutes.
